Blackburn Farmstead

Brand: Solstice Scents

Scent Description:

Fall is the season for canning and preparing food stores and the home and its inhabitants for the winter. The kitchen is abuzz with the creation of homemade delights but the most prized at the Blackburn Farmstead is the blackberry and boysenberry preserves made from berries grown right on the farm. In the autumn, the family gathers around the hearth to enjoy fresh made butter and jam on hot from the oven buttermilk biscuits. The jam is also a euphoric experience on the homemade fresh-churned vanilla ice cream!
Blackburn’s Farmstead is a very very sweet fragrance with loads of vanilla, boysenberry, blackberry and vanilla musk with undertones of cotton candy. The berries are primarily detected on cold sniff and initial application. The perfume starts out with the delicious combination of berries laying on top of a variety of vanillas. The dry down is sweet and creamy vanillas and vanilla musk in the foreground with hints of cool-toned blend of berries in the background, rounding out the vanilla, and a faint trace of cotton candy.

  1. On my skin I could detect a “berry” scent that ended up amping into that plastic death note stage that a lot of berry scents do on my skin. It reminded me of a plastic Strawberry Shortcake doll. If you were a child of the 80’s then you know exactly what I’m talking about. This one didn’t work with my skin chemistry at all.

  2. Someone once said this smells like childhood in the 90s, and it’s TRUE.

It’s a candy sort of scent, with the vanilla musk making it a little more mature, but it’s still cute berry innocence. I’m normally not much of a gourmand lover (they make me so hungry! I love the smells, but they’re good enough to eat!) and I usually cannot STAND candy sweet scents, but this is gorgeous.

If you were a kid in the 90s, this will likely smell nostalgic. If you like sweet gourmands, you’ll probably enjoy this. Even if you don’t… give it a shot. The vanilla musk that comes out is very nice.

  3. This is such a fun, fruity vanilla! It smells exactly like blackberry jam and cream. I can smell it while typing even when it’s just on my wrist. After a few hours, light cotton candy and musk come out, which is unusual but nice. I still smell the berries when I get closer to the skin, and the entire scent lasts for about 15 hours on me. It’s fun and evocative, and it reminds me of my uncle’s delicious homemade jam. There’s an “I just smell good” quality about this that I love.

  4. Ugh I loved this at first..
It smelled exactly like my sisters berry lip smacker from the 90’s. Then it turned to have an onion? like tinge on my skin after the initial burst of fruit wore off and it was all I could smell. I think it smells a little better on my boyfriend. I regret buying FS.

  5. Smells kind of like grape juice with some musk. On the skin it still smells like grape juice, but with vanilla cream. A hint of perfumey vanilla musk seems to be surrounding it. Not a fan, but it’s not bad either. Though I think it would make for a better soap.
