Night Watcher

Brand: Solstice Scents

Scent Description:

Forest Floor, Tree Tops, Bark, Mountain Air, Fir Balsam, Juniper, Moss, Oud, Dried Herbs, Cedar Tips

Night Watcher is a mossy, woody, coniferous fragrance with elements evocative of the woods at night.  The mood of this fragrance is quiet and introspective yet watchful and alert.  Cool stone, damp forest floor and plush moss combine with fir balsam, juniper and cedar tips to produce a woodland blend with a lot of depth. Dried herbs, along with a variety of other aromas, were used to create a feather accord to suggest the presence of owl feathers.  The result is a dry and musky note that adds an additional layer to the forest-heavy base.   On initial application, the moss and juniper emerges first in a green sensory cloud.  As the fragrance wears, additional elements arise.  The feather accord is displayed shortly after the mossy opening.  The fir balsam and wood notes come out after the fragrance has settled on the skin for a while.  Many of the other notes may not be individually detected but rather suggest the abstract concepts such as mountain air and cool stone.

Night Watcher contains a wide variety of essential and fragrance oils including but not limited to: dirt accord, fir balsam, juniper berry, cedar, moss accord, oud, sandalwood, vetiver, orris root, feather accord, amber, clary sage, nagarmotha, ambrette seed and more.  Unisex leaning masculine.  Women who enjoy atmospheric woods fragrances may also enjoy Night Watcher.

  1. On application, thought it was complex and evocative of feathers… and then my brain realized that it smelled just like a mountain town visitor center gift shop. Wood carvings, incense, dried herbs, popcorn(?), geodes, leather, feather dreamcatchers. I thought I would never un-smell it. Until, suddenly, during the drydown it transformed to an early summer morning at a campground. Dry pine needles crushed under your tent as you crawl out, quiet misty air, wood picnic table, tree sap, struggling to light the camp stove, neigbors quietly starting a campfire nearby, a gravel road turning into a dirt path, ravens calling out overhead. Very evocative woodsy perfume. Great longevity.

  2. Not exactly a forest atmospheric but a very good perfumed reiteration of one; Night watcher opens dry and herbal with a pronounced juniper note that quickly makes way for the crisp fir and soft oudh that will dominate for most of the wear, with some dry cedar far into the background. The drydown is warmer and muskier with the dirt and stone accords making their appearances as the barest hint of earthiness. It’s a sweet but fresh scent that I don’t find to be, bar the opening, mossy or powdery at all.

  3. Sweet conifers and carrot (orris root) over a sweet musky base. I get mostly moss and a sugary green balsam fir. It’s very feminine to me.
