  1. at first it’s a piney foresty smell with some rose in my background. it’s really strong on the balsam fir and rose, because those are the only notes I can actually smell. when I first put on I almost couldn’t smell the rose, but slowly it becomes more obvious. I wish that the rose was a bit less obvious when drying down.

  2. Roses … roses everywhere, and I am not a “traditional” rose person. After ~30 minutes, the rose began to mellow a bit, but stayed too sweet for my taste. Based on the description, I was hoping for something that was much greener and woody, and less sweet and rose-heavy. Longevity and throw were good. This wasn’t for me, so I destashed.

  3. Immediately this scent reminds me of Cassis de la Foret. Where CdlF has black currant, elderberry and wild plum, FR has a subtle dark heirloom rose scent in place of the dark fruit and berry notes that I smell in CdlF. To me, the base of the two scents are very much the same. I’m not mad about it though, I find it to be a wonderful resinous “dark forest” scent without veering into piney Christmas tree territory. The green amber lends to the staying power in this and it lasts hours longer on me than CdlF. I find it just a touch powdery (probably from the green amber) but in the best way. Thankfully, no appearance of the dreaded “baby powder” note. I usually dislike rose scents as I tend to amp them in a grandmotherly way, if that makes sense to anyone but me. But the rose note in this stays in the background and isn’t too floral nor is it powdery. It’s not a fresh rose petal scent either…it’s hard to describe. It is very much like smelling the subtle scent of rose in a green forest. Subtly rose tinged, green, and resinous. I didn’t think this would be something that I’d gravitate towards but I find myself really enjoying this scent. I think that even some rose haters would change their minds after trying this one out. Sharra is a master when it comes to blending. Very well done!!!
