Eternal Winter

Brand: Black Baccara

Scent Description:

Enter a magical fairy tale world where it’s winter every day. This blend bottles the scents of the season, offering a year-round window into the enchantments of the snowy season. A frozen lake dusted by snow, the embers from a burning fire, and spices wafting from a nearby homestead are just some of the aromas you may experience as this blend unfolds.

This blend features a comforting, slightly spicy palette of fig, anise, sandalwood, frankincense, burning embers, and fresh cinnamon bark. This wintery mix is a wonderful year-round fragrance for conjuring the comforts of the winter months.

  1. When I put it on… fig compote! Thank you, Black Baccara, for making a fig perfume that isn’t “fig leaf” or “fig trees” or some other B.S., but actual figs! That stage unfortunately doesn’t last very long, though the anise lingers longer (with a touch of cinnamon). What happens as this fragrance unfolds is very strange, though: the only way I could really describe what was emanating from my skin up to my nose was… “cold.” But not like the inside of a freezer, or anything gross like that. It was like I was smelling winter air. It was when I pressed my nose to my arm that I detected the sandalwood, though even then it wasn’t the warm and spicy sandalwood I’m used to. I don’t know how someone can manage to “freeze” sandalwood, but it was accomplished here. (I’m surprised mint isn’t listed as a note, because it feels like a garnish here with the sandalwood.) “Eternal Winter” doesn’t last very long but it’s gorgeous. Despite the name, this can be worn year-round and would in fact be refreshing in the summer heat, I think.
