Hellbender

Brand: Darling Clandestine

Scent Description: A rich, decadent, gourmand delight rolling in a bourbon-soaked winter under last autumn’s leaves. Raw ginger, toasty amber, brassy saffron, deeeeep vanilla. Sometimes you can find it in solid perfume tins featuring art by Matt of OnTheDisk.org.

  1. I’ve gotta agree with Elizabeth, Hellbender does smell a lot like a tea blend. I was expecting very zingy white ginger coupled with a rich vanilla, but instead got dried sugared ginger with almost a vanilla black tea? The amber coupled with saffron is what is giving this that slightly spiced and tannic quality, I think. Smells like expensive body cream.

  2. This reminds me of one of my favorite teas from Tea Hippies called Fire Whiskey (black tea, vanilla, cinnamon, ginger, chickory root, and black pepper).
Hellbender starts out with a strong blend of ginger and saffron, with a smooth creamy note background. The spicyness slowly fades with wear, leaving a delicious dark vanilla amber blend.
