Brand: Darling Clandestine

Scent Description: A whirlwind of memories, from my grandparents’ courtship in Mexico to the home they nurtured together in Illinois, including notes of cotton, tobacco leaf, rose, marigold, leather, machine oil, amber, lilac, pepper, copal, chocolate, wine and pimento.

  1. Incredibly syrupy floral at first sniff. Thick sappy tobacco leaf that is rendered almost medicinal by the red wine and amber – if you’ve ever had those really fancy gourmand coughdrops, it heads in that direction for a hot minute. On skin there are gorgeously fresh and green florals. The rose stands out most, though lilac manages to peek out from time to time as a top note and marigold gives a bit of a musky floral undertone. I never really get the leather, but the machine oil pops up on the dry down to make the whole thing incredibly atmospheric. This one is exactly what it claims to be. It took forever to rest, though.
