  1. This starts out so delicious. It’s cascades of caramel and apple backed with warm, smooth spices and sweet, buttery cake. Very fall/winter/holiday foodie. The caramel in particular is drawing me in. It’s got a lovely scorched quality, giving it richness and depth. Unfortunately, it quickly becomes almost straight cinnamon on my skin. All the nuance disappears. It’s very disappointing. It’s not even a fresh cinnamon stick vibe either, which can be appealing in its own way. This is flat and dry. I wonder if there’s just too much trying to happen and my nose was like ?!?!?… you smell CINNAMON. I tried saving it by layering, but it was too dominant, even stamping out Old Scratch, which is one of the strongest Hexennacht scents I own. Oh well. I had super high hopes for this one, but it flat out doesn’t work for me. It’s interesting that this might suggest that I amp cinnamon. I’m on a never-ending quest for my version of a gingersnap perfume and I wonder if that could be interfering. So at least sampling this gave me something to think about! I stuck it out for the dry down and it’s become a sort of spiced apple. Nothing super exciting. It vaguely reminds me of the baked apple scent that’s a component of Babooshka. That one is vastly superior for this type IMO, so it’s not even fair to compare them. Anyway, this was a definite (and surprising) swap.
