  1. This scent leans a lot more masculine on my skin than I thought it would. Speaking of notes, this is so well blended that I absolutely cannot pick them out at all. There’s a spiciness to this but again I can’t figure out the note(s). This scent has phenomenal longevity. Unfortunately this is one of those scents that wants to kick up my allergies. My eyes watered and I had quite the sneezing jag while I wore this. I put this on yesterday (not sure of the exact time) and it’s now a little past 4am as I write this, and I can STILL smell Laudanum on my skin. I would suggest that everyone try a sample of this before taking the plunge in to a FS bottle. Definitely have to have an affinity for more masculine leaning scents to be okay with this. It’s strong stuff so make sure it agrees with you. I think I’ll pass on this. Every time I sniff my wrists I sneeze and my nose starts to run. A sure sign from the allergy gods to keep away.

  2. Not entirely sure about this one, Which took me back, because all these notes are some of my favorites. There is a lot going on here. At first it smells really nice, almost ‘fresh’ but not clean.. if that makes sense.. it’s a darker type of fresh.
Then it started to give me a headache, and something started to smell funny. The only way I can compare that sour smell is like ‘morning breath’ i know that sounds weird but some note in here is doing that.. it happened with ‘hex’ from alkemia as well which is VERY similar.. I had to let that rest and now that’s beautiful.. but this nah. I should’ve sampled first!

  3. This smells like a character in a novel who teaches at a Victorian finishing school for assassins. Assassins who use seduction as part of their tactics. A character who would keep a scented handkerchief in her decolletage. A character who uses the word decolletage. As in, “Kindly keep your eyes from my decolletage or I’ll be forced to slap the flesh from your cheek.” There’s a kind fleshy, musky base from the white musk and patchouli? There’s honestly so much going on, in a good way!, I find it hard to break down. It’s truly intoxicating. I picture swirls of smoke in the elegant opium den of the finishing school I mentioned. I get a whiff of a note, then try to follow its trail, then another swirl of smoke and another note catches me. A little spice here, a touch of floral there. It has an intense incense quality, but it’s wrapped in the other notes, all playing off each other. With the smokiness there’s a touch of mustiness, but in a very good way. Comforting. Like the smell of draperies that have soaked up years of incense and opium smoke, the scent of perfumes and musk’s, the essences of sex and danger. I want to wave a handkerchief and shout, “Brava!”

  4. It is very well blended. Kinda masc kinda spicy. I really don’t know what opium smells like. The most masculine thing I’ve tried so far from Hex!

  5. Lightly sweet, complex, warm, spicy, woody, and exotic. Saffron, spicy bergamot, black pepper, spicy clove, non-gourmand vanilla, soft amber, earthy vetiver, opium, and soft woods. I really do not smell any ambergris, black currant, white musk, nutmeg, or patchouli and though I smell woods, it’s not any specific type of wood. Nevertheless, this seems very complex.

Though it’s a bit too spicy for me personally, I do find it appealing in a way. Like snooping around the cargo hold of a Moroccan trade ship.

Not for me, but spice lovers should absolutely check this out!

  6. Hmmm… this just smells like sorta woodsy cologne to me. I can’t pick out much of anything. I’m not into it at all. I’m very surprised to say it smells awfully generic. I don’t get it! There are so many components and some really interesting notes like opium, plum, and black currant (one of my favorites usually)… but it’s a total flop to my nose. It very vaguely reminds me of some random men’s fragrance I smelled at Bath and Body Works once. I don’t even remember what it was called. I don’t get any fruitiness, sweetness, or musk. Definitely no patchouli! It’s just sort of… clean and soapy with a little wood… something. I’m getting the distinct impression of a bramble as I sit here trying desperately to decipher it. It’s a dry, prickly bush, twigs crackling. Tumbleweed? Not exactly something I want to smell like. I can barely pick out a dusty spice of some sort as it dries down. Nutmeg and black pepper perhaps? It’s not bad, per se. It’s in no way not grabbing me either. I guess this just doesn’t jive with me or my skin. I’m at a loss for words. I’m thankful I didn’t blind buy this in a large size! It was very high on my list. Bullet dodged.
