This is really nice. I wasn’t sure what this would smell like when I ordered it. I tried it last night and loved it, so I had to wear it today. I tried several scents but this is the one I kept sniffing. It seems a little more fall/winter than spring to me, though the wine and incense seem suitable for Easter, if we’re going to be really traditional. It has a slightly sour/creamy/sweet smell at first, I think from the figs, limoncello & vanilla. It then fades into more of a woody incense. There is still a brightness from the limoncello, and the vanilla becomes sweeter, but both are in the background. I do get a hint of something that may be wine, but it is pretty faint. Overall I like this scent more than I expected from the notes, and I think it is my favorite of this collection.
Ilooked up the name too, and it seems to really fit the scent. Chiaroscuro is “an artistic technique, developed during the Renaissance, that uses strong tonal contrasts between light and dark to model three-dimensional forms” (from Wikipedia). This scent has both light and dark tones that blend together really well.
