Star of the County Down

Brand: Pyewacket Potions

Scent Description: “He smiled at me and he said, says he/ “That’s the gem of Ireland’s crown/ Young Rosie McCann from the banks of the Bann/ She’s the star of the County Down.” Lots of fresh green grass with hazelnuts brown as her hair, sweet honey (non-vegan, sorry), and a lush mingling of chamomile, blooming roses, and marjoram. Inspired by the popular Irish folk song!

  1. In the bottle this smells just like freshly cut grass, and reminded me of mowing the lawn, but without all of the sweat and effort. XD The hazelnut note is also prominant upon initial opening and application, it’s pleasantly nutty and also realistic.

After it dries, the rose comes out. It smells a lot like Bulgarian rose oil, and perhaps it is, since it fades very quickly just like the real thing (unfortunately). On someone with different skin chemistry this would probably last longer. It changes into somethings that’s almost violet before it fades, which is quite strange. Perhaps it is affected by the remnants of one of the other notes (honey?). The chamomile was very faint, and I didn’t really detect marjoram or honey.

One thing I like about Pyewacket is that samples come in tiny screw-top bottles with a built in dropper. It’s a lot easier to use than the standard 1 ml sample bottle. I love this scent and how realistic it is, but I don’t think I’ll go for a full size, just because it doesn’t last long enough on me. I got around 4-5 hours out of it, and it was very faint for the last couple of hours. Someone who amps rose would probably have different results. I may try this one for layering as see how it goes.
