If the Hulu show Harlots had a themed perfume, it would be this. It’s definitely got that makeup vibe but the grapefruit keeps it from being too serious. One of my staples.
Waxy lipstick and makeup powder and Violet petals, a special occasion scent for me
I can see the appeal of this scent, but it was not for me. It was quite heavy, waxy and floral, and slightly too sharp. The lipstick accord was interesting, but I don’t necessarily want to smell like it. This scent reminded me of a drag queen in a long purple dress, putting on a ton of powder right before hitting the stage.
I’ve tried all the mainstream lipstick scents but there was always a sharpness I didn’t care for. I’m not getting that in Bruise Violet it’s also not overly powdery. Not gourmand but enough sweetness to it that I bought a bottle. Will enjoy this in spring/ summer.
I definitely get the red lipstick and dusting powder. It smells like what a movie star in the 40’s would wear. Waxy and powdery and lots of violet. If that’s your speed, then go for it. Not for me, ultimately.
