Brand: ZOMG Smells
Valetudo is the smallest of Jupiter’s newly discovered moons, and the only one in the outer belt of newly-noticed moons orbiting prograde (in the same direction as the planet’s spin) rather than retrograde (in the opposite direction as the planet’s spin). She does what she wants! Or, very possibly, our small friend Valetudo may be what’s left after a head-on collision of larger moons. I like to think of her as a good symbol of perseverance, either way, which fits well with her name. Valetudo is the Roman name for a Greek goddess of health, cleanliness, and sanitation: Hygeia, from whose name we get the modern word “hygiene.”
Thus it seems appropriate to give her a scent that features fragrant and useful things like vanilla, honey, frankincense, and myrrh– all antibacterial! Sandalwood, too, is antiseptic and anti-inflammatory, and patchouli, geranium and palmarosa are antifungal and antibacterial as well. Since Valetudo/Hygeia is a goddess of preventative care, I’ve included papaya in the scent as well for its many health benefits– it’s a great source of antioxidants, can help fight inflammation, and perhaps most well-known, it contains an enzyme called papain that aids digestion.
