I like this one when I’m intentionally smelling it. It’s primarily chestnut and oud, with just a hint of vanilla. So like, nutty and a little smoky with a quietly present sweetness. But when I’m just going about my business and I catch a whiff, it falls flat; all I get is powder and vanilla. It isn’t unpleasant by any means but it isn’t the vibe I’m aiming for. I wish the nutty/smoky elements had more projection.
The Smoky dark vanilla and oud remind me of Solstice Manor with rich amber and the nuttiness from the chestnuts, I think I would choose this one if I had to pick between the two. Very warm and cozy, the Poesie Xmas scents are fantastic
Hello smoky goodness!!! This reminds me of the smoke note in Solstice Scents Smoky Mountain Mallow. I think that might be the black amber and oud. It starts off gloriously smoky on my skin and after a couple hours it mellows to a grounded sweetness. This scent reminds me of a Christmas display in a little mall in my hometown. There are a 3 or 4 vintage animatronic displays through the mall. One shows the people roasting chestnuts, decked out Victorian style. This scent is that memory.
In the decant, this is a dark chestnut and oudh scent, almost like a nutty leather. That’s how it is on my skin as well, but I am getting the savory caraway as well. The black amber ends up emerging after a little bit and ends up becoming one of the main players along with the chestnut and oudh. Not getting much vanilla from this, sadly. I was hoping for more sweetness from this, but if you like chestnuts and resins, give this a whirl.
