Santa Muerte

Brand: Astrid Perfume

Scent Description:

I don’t believe in a god, but I really like how the dead are celebrated in Mexico during the All Souls and All Saints holidays. I like how death is sometimes seen as a mothering figure and I think it is very comforting to those who grieve over their deceased to see death like a mother taking in all the souls of the dead. I understand why many choose to believe in an afterlife. Believing one is cared for and “goes” somewhere when one dies is an easier pill to swallow than to face the thought of absolute nothingness… that one’s light extinguishes and our body goes to crumbs of the earth and nothing more. This perfume is how I would imagine La Santa Muerte.

Warm, red musk, deep labdanum, tobacco, marigold, ginger, sweet davana, and the reddest blood red rose.
