You Complicate Things

Brand: Darling Clandestine

Scent Description: The notes are jasmine, vanilla, and sandalwood. Pure and simple, right? Nope. This is DarlingClandestine. The vanilla is not bakery vanilla. Nor is it that acrid, what-the-hell-no-stop-it-that-hurts “perfume” vanilla that’s plastered on that woman with the lemme-speak-to-the-manager haircut. NO. It’s DarlingClandestine. Expect this fragrance to morph fascinatingly as it settles on your skin. It’s an excellent choice for fragrancing your hair as well; just work in a few drops with your fingertips. This fragrance is very, very unisex. It’s not masculine. It’s not feminine. It’s complicated.

  1. This one starts out with a strong jasmine, with a bit of vanilla in the background. After an hour or so it morphs into something like a honey clove scent, remniscent of Twisted Wonderland’s Who-Feast (at least on my skin). This vanilla is dark and brooding. You might say it’s complicated. The sandlewood becomes more apparent with wear.

  2. From the bottle you do get the sandalwood and vanilla more strongly, plus some green + blue notes, but my nose sort of ignores those after it’s applied to my skin and jumps to JASMINE. it’s generally a well-blended perfume with all the noted scents working well together, but I definitely get the floral first and foremost. <3 Nice and sultry as another reviewer said!

I am obsessed because there’s a road near my house surrounded by jasmine and the scent fills the air AMAZINGLY as you drive through in the summer. It is that jasmine (no indoles, just pretty blossoms as used to scent the tea) so I’m a happy camper!
