Hestia

Brand: Hexennacht

Scent Description: Marshmallow and clove. This is quite heavy on the marshmallow, with juuuuust enough clove to give it a spicy ‘kick’. (also very similar to Lolita, but with marshmallow in lieu of spun sugar)

  1. Oh, I love clove. I like this at first sniff. It projects to my nose all the way from my arm. Then something happens and it’s no longer a bright fluffy clove. It’s still nice, somewhat cozy but not stifling. It’s definitely zozimus with clove. That being said I suspect it needs aging to get there – my Ajevie was glorious, my brand new FS was more a packet fruit juice scent, and the decant of my FS is gradually aging for a couple of months to get closer to the Ajevie glory. I’m willing to wait it out because I loved that cozy scent so much.

  2. I was excited for some spicy clove and marshmallow, but instead I got weak smelling clove (i.e., not spicy enough for me) and cardboard. Similar experience with Gingerdead Man, so I think Hex’s marshmallow does not work for me.

  3. Clove scented marshmallows. I LOVE this own it’s own and I think it would layer well too. This begins with the clove dominating then slowly fading (yet never disappearing) as the marshmallow comes to the forefront. The balance is excellent, the clove keeps the marshmallow from going sickly sweet.

  4. Sweet, gourmand, creamy, and spicy. Marshmallow and spicy clove.

The marshmallow seems slightly stronger than the clove, but it’s almost evenly balanced. The marshmallow note seems like the same one used in Zozimus – wonderfully sweet and fluffy. The clove is spicy/herbal rather than earthy and it’s reminding me of cinnamon. I don’t like cinnamon, soo…

Not for me, but I recommend to anyone who enjoys marshmallow and cinnamon/spicy clove notes.

  5. Yeah, spiced marshmallow should totally be a thing. The marshmallow has the same qualities I love about Zozimus – it’s puffy and airy, melding with my natural skin musk in such a gorgeous way. The clove kick is impressively delicate yet assertive, elevating the marshmallow to something sublime. I love it. This is very much marshmallow touched by the essence of clove. The notes are never quite on equal footing. The clove has a strong opening and then lets the marshmallow shine through. Yet it also never disappears. I’d call this and Zozimus sister scents, with Zozimus being purer and more innocent while Hestia has a seductive lean that gives way to the glory of perfected marshmallow. I’m torn now between which I like more. Regardless, this is a gorgeous blend and a very interesting take on marshmallow.
