On my skin, Moonstone wears and smells like Loup Garou, with the addition of the night blooming jasmine and a little something else. But the light amber base (white/grey/silver) with that lunar musk really reminds me of LG or Alkemia’s Ghost Fire and Luminae oils. I think it’s the amber used, they all run in the same vein. Moonstone’s jasmine note is incredible, it never turns on my skin as so many do. On me this is definitely more of a clean laundry type scent than a floral one. I’m not mad about it, this really works with my skin. The jasmine makes itself known but never once kicks up my allergies, not a single nose twitch. Once the jasmine burns off I’m left with a sweetish (but not foody) clean smell that I associate with white/light ambers. Is that evening air accord used in Pearanormal Activity? Out of all of the above scents that I mentioned, Moonstone is my favorite by far. Part of me wonders if my skin chemistry has changed. I never had much luck with florals but as of lately Alkemia scents have been hitting florals out of the park for me. Moonstone has to be the first jasmine forward perfume oil that’s behaved with my skin chemistry. I never imagined that I’d end up liking this as much as I do, it’s amazing. I wonder how Moonstone compares to Alkemia’s Foxfire? The jasmine isn’t detectable (to my nose) after a couple hours and I’m left with that clean sweet light amber base that’s still going strong at the 8 hour mark on me.
I sadly have to disagree with the glowing reviews. I can’t smell any of the listed notes, but instead just smell very sweet honeydew melon?
Love this!! It’s a chilly and clean slightly-floral musk, with an overall silver moonlight vibe. This is the perfect jasmine. Love how much throw and longevity it has – my skin eats perfume oils right up so this is a major win for me.
I can only describe this as translucent and vaguely ozonic (seen Loup-garou reviewed this way, but that one just reads gourmand to me). Hexennacht doesn’t make the most realistic florals, but in this case it doesn’t detract from the scent at all; the jasmine is cold and sharp and barely-there, hovering just above the fuzzy musk.
This is remarkable. It’s gorgeous and ethereal, like liquid rainbows slipping through my fingers. It’s evoking such a mood in me! What I’m shocked by is that I wouldn’t classify this as a primary floral. I smell the jasmine, but it’s on equal footing with this unbelievable freshness… this smell is what I wish the clean air part of Pearanormal Activity had achieved for me. It’s also what I wanted Loup Garou to do, in a different way. It’s a couple notches above “my skin but better”. It is obvious that I’m wearing a perfume, and that’s the way I like it. It’s straddling the line of subtlety I can tolerate and it’s on the winning side. It’s super classy too and its strength and endurance is impressive. After being let down by both Rose Quartz and Citrine, I seriously doubted this one. I was wrong! It’s so beautiful… and so far outside my normal tastes. Yet my fascination persists. I just had to get a full-size of this. It’s too good. I discovered by suggestion that this layers well with Kakariko Village. I never in a million years would have put it with a sweet-fruity. Instead of being swallowed as I predicted it might be, Moonstone adds its perfect clean layer, propping up the cotton candy and tropical fruit notes in KV so much better than I expected. That’s inspired many more combos that I never would have tried. It’s done well all over the scent category map, with Phizz-wizzling, Holy Water, and Hexenhaus for some examples. It’s a layering dynamo and I’m completely in love.
