  1. Got this as a sample with a blind buy of Andean Mountain Cat, which was recommended to me as a pretty close arroz con leche scent. Since AMC isn’t listed on here, I’m reviewing both here. These smell like candles. Just straight up like the Ross candle aisle. Both do. The only note they could share is “sugar” (for AMC it’s listed as panela), so I don’t know if that’s what I’m smelling. It’s not that slightly waxy nuttiness that tonka has, it’s not that honeyed beeswax note so many indies use as a candle accord. It’s cheap Ross candle. I don’t want to be mean, but it feels and smells cheap and like the fragrance oils are not perfume quality, but candle quality. I’ve heard lots of great stuff about this house and had my eye on several non-gourmands they sell (hello, Hall Of The Mountain King), but am afraid I will just be getting more of that plasticky candle smell. May try again in the future, but it’s back-burnered this house for me for now.

  2. This wore for over eight hours but is incredibly faint from the start and wears close to the skin. It’s very creamy bourbon vanilla with sugar, and there is a hint of something that is slightly nutty, though I think that’s just this kind of vanilla. I don’t detect any honey but could see it being there somewhere. This would make a great everyday, easy scent, especially if you don’t want to come on too strong around others.
