Countrycide

Brand: Alchemic Muse

Scent Description: Scratch the surface of this beautiful scent and you’ll find many layers leading to a shadowy center. A crisp veneer of sweet, earthy autumn leaves with top notes green fig, bergamot, golden hay, and dried flowers masks a darkened heart of musky clover, caramelized benzoin, beeswax, and black vanilla absolute. At the center is a corrupted foundation of bitter almond, tonka bean, gaiacwood and sandalwood, waiting to be revealed for a sensual and unforgettable experience.

  1. This one opens with a wonderful Autumn leaf scent – you know, the kind you can smell when the leaves are all changing color and they exude that sweet smell with just a hint of something sour. It’s blended with the hay and some sweetness from either the benzoin or vanilla in the first half hour to an hour, at which point the leaf note faded away and this becomes more of the benzoin and black vanilla. What other notes come out at this point for me depends on several factors such as time of day and hormones, but I have noticed more subtle wafts of spice or something that smells kind of earthy or woody. They’re not always there, just sometimes. For me, this scent over all is largely about the leaves, hay, benzoin, and vanilla, the last one of which can definitely smell more “black vanilla” at times, IE rich but not quite as sweet as more gourmand versions of vanilla.
