  1. This is like a richer version of Gold Skulltula with a hint of (not unwelcome) sourness from the whipped cream accord. I think Hex’s golden amber note is very powdery so I’m not a fan.

  2. Gold skulltula is one of my all time favorites – so seeing it compared was a no brained. While it does hold aspects like the amber or vanilla, it doesn’t have the warmth/ mystery GS has for me. It’s a similar vibe, but it’s like the sweet little sister to GS. It’s sweet, hangs around for awhile, and knows not to go rancid with the whipped note. I highly recommend this to any amber loves, or vanilla fiends. I’ve been carrying this around the house with me because it is so Relaxing, and it can smell different on me each time. I may need this in a extrait too!! Dangit!

  3. The best way to describe this is fluffy and rich. The marshmallow is pillowy and pairs with the sweet vanilla, and the amber adds a little bit of richness and depth.

  4. I did a side-by-side comparison of this with Black Vanilla and I’m surprised that they’re distinctly different upon application. The amber is a lot stronger here, giving it a more dominant resiny feel. The whipped cream note is acceptable, like I could take any sweet note in its place probably, but it’s not strong. I think I objectively prefer the vanillas with amber, but as I sniff this one, I think BV could use a heck of a lot more amber for my tastes. Another strange thing is this is giving me a spiced impression, like there’s some cinnamon or allspice hiding in here. Very interesting. This leads me to believe that BV will likely blend with more for layering purposes. Then again, I see MS being the superior option for wearing alone. It’s got a more unique vibe. Spicy resin is gorgeous and addicting. So, I like them both… and they’re different enough to own both… than again, BV is more like Gold Skulltula, which I like more. So, I think my ranking is MS>GS>BV. Like the comparison I did between Spirit Temple and Champanilla, these two begin smelling more and more alike as I reach the complete dry down. MS retains slightly more of its amber nuance and nudges it up another notch for me. It’s a remarkable blend!

  5. Are you looking for a perfect marshmallow note? Get this. It’s exactly like sticking your nose in a fresh bag of gourmet marshmallows, complete with the powdered-sugar dust keeping them from sticking together.

  6. A beautiful, creamy vanilla-amber. Very true to the description. This has been my favorite vanilla from Hexennacht so far. I get a lot of the whipped cream, it smells just like vanilla tinged, freshly whipped cream with a background of dreamy, sunny, golden amber.
