Milky lavender. I completely understand why some people say they use this to go to sleep.
I’m pleasantly surprised by this one. Chamomile is such a calming scent, and the lavender is very soft, which I am thankful for. I never get a straightforward fruitiness from this, so I think the apricots are just playing a sweet supporting role. It’s sweet in a natural way, gentle, with a clean finish. I can smell the amber tiptoe forward after a few minutes and it’s a delightful, warm base for the herbal blend. I do get a tiny, short-lived whiff of that weird buttered popcorn that milk notes often bring on my skin, but… there’s no burning! Maybe I can handle steamed milk! I’m practically giddy! I browsed through the various milk notes in the rest of the samples and it seems like I might get away with a couple I otherwise wouldn’t have tried. Thank you, Ajevie! I totally get why people use this for bedtime now. I could cuddle up and nap wearing this, no problem. The complete dry down is mostly that lovely, light amber note and some remnant of herbs with the tiniest breath of sweetness maintaining the balance. It’s soothing, yet interesting and grown-up. It’s the best of this type from this house for me, hands down. I literally can’t stop sniffing myself on the dry down. Fantastic.
In the bottle:
Strong medicinal lavender. Basically just that. Maybe some chamomile. Very herbal.
On application:
Oh, there’s some more of the fun stuff. The lavender and chamomile are right there at the front. It seems to change with every sniff. Sometimes I get the amber, sometimes a little bit of honey. I don’t understand where the apricot is though. I got this for the apricot! Y u hide from me? Seeing as the (coconut) milk in De Falsis Deis went so huge on me I assumed I would get a lot of the steamed milk from this. I do not. It’s basically a sweeter, slightly more interesting lavender.
Later on: it’s nice, pretty, a lot less lavender. The lingering smell is just… pretty. Husband thought it smelled like “baked goods”. When I put it on before bed there are traces of slightly spicy amber sweetness lingering well into the next morning.
The longer you leave it the nicer and sweeter it gets. But like, am I drunk? Am I noseblind to apricot? Where is it? I quite like putting this on before bed because, yanno, lavender is good for sleepytimes. That’s something people do, right? This is nice, really, pretty and not too complicated, but I was expecting something quite different – sweeter, more complex, at least SOME apricot… I like it, I’ll use it up, but I’m probably not going to buy more.
(Husband: “smells like… essence?”
“essential oil?”
“yeah, like the stuff you get from those, you know, those weird shops…”
“like a crystal shop?”
“yeah, smells like that.”
Seems legit.)
Light tea and lavender, similar to Moloko Plus, but not as creamy and with the added tea factor.
