Samhain is buttery in the bottle. On my skin the buttery, waxy quality remains an undertone, with light pie spices the topnote. It underwhelms me at first. I was hoping to be transported to Halloween land I suppose, and this is more subtle. It smells like a whiff of buttery cinnamon baked spaghetti squash. Beautiful and realistic, does not throw much however.
Such a lovely, refined pumpkin and pastry scent in the bottle! It’s different from the standard fall/ winter pumpkin options that tend to come out… which can overwhelm with in-your-face spice, or blend into one nondescript sweet note. I do get a healthy dose of baking spices once it’s on my skin, but it’s impressively staying airy and elegant. The pumpkin is playing an ephemeral supporting role, so it’s mostly flaky butter pastry with drizzles of honey… cinnamon and sugar dusted on soft fried dough… seems familiar… Oh, I know! It smells like sopapillas! Pumpkin sopapillas could totally be a thing, right? I really like this! It’s not what I expected. It’s a brighter, more delicate fall/ winter gourmand scent. I’m so surprised by how much I like this. I can’t stop sniffing myself (that’s always the sign). Another favorite!
