  1. This was sort of a weird one, honestly. The first time I wore it it just smelled sort of acrid (my guess is what I was getting was the cream just not working with my skin chemistry?) but I tried it again recently after coating my entire body with cocoa butter and layered over that it smelled totally amazing and I was like, OH, THIS is what it’s supposed to smell like!

  2. The cream in this went full-on sour, rancid, and pungent. The leather itself wasn’t bad, but extremely off-putting adjacent to the spoiled milk smell. I couldn’t stand it in the bottle, but was brave enough to try some on my arm and it wasn’t as sharp, but still wholly unpleasant.

  3. I don’t know how to feel about this one. I’ve seen reviews span from worship to virulent hatred and I… just don’t know. I guess I like it? I don’t hate it… On application, the sweet cream was stronger than I wanted it to be though. That + leather is a weird combo. After a minute or so, it settled, and I mostly just smell soft, supple leather. There’s a trickle of tobacco and the sweetness has blended with that, so it’s perfectly nice. Like a very clean cowboy. I feel like it needs something. I see now why people say things like, “It layers with everything!”. It’s practically begging to be layered. I don’t think I need another full-size of something that I’ll always want to layer. It’s not bad, though. If you want a simple sweet tobacco and leather scent, this is probably it.

  4. Now I understand what people mean when they mention an off-putting sour milk note. It’s such a shame that I get a sour milk note on top because underneath that is the most perfectly realistic creamy leather I’ve smelled in any indie oil. I’d recommend trying this, but if you’ve had issues with milk/cream notes in the past you should get a sample to start with.

  5. The leather here is dead on and potent. The tobacco (the same tobacco I love so much in De Falsis Deis) and sweet cream make this scent absolutely dreamy. Whip is fantastic on its own, but is an even better layering note for me. I layer it with everything! Squeaky Bedsprings, Raspberry Rosemallow are among my faves. Also One Good Scare from Sixteen92.

  6. For me this was pretty much as advertised: creamy leather. I didn’t get a ton of tobacco; on me it smelled like a just barely broken in, but still new enough to have the “new leather” smell, very soft and thick leather jacket or glove; like lambskin, maybe. I could almost feel the material when I smelled this. There is nothing remotely sharp about this fragrance; it’s warm, soft leather all the way. It’s not something I want to wear personally, but I can tell you I’d love it on someone else!
