On the skin, this is like the clove is slapping me in the face. Goodness. After an hour or so, I can start to get some molasses and cookies, but it mostly a lot of clove.
I’ve been on the hunt for a gingersnap perfume. One of my favorite baking recipes is chewy ginger-molasses cookies. They’re not exactly gingersnaps because they’re super soft and I’m heavy-handed with the clove, so they also have a spicy bite. This smells like them baking in the bottle. I’m swooning. It’s not as good on my skin though. I’m getting the smell of the dust from a black pepper shaker and ginger mostly now. I want cinnamon and clove, and to add a soft, sweet layer to it like icing on a cookie. It’s a surprisingly muted scent overall too. It does improve a bit with wear; I can smell the lovely spices starting to reemerge, but it just isn’t capturing “warm, spicy holiday baking” for me. The hunt continues!
