I don’t know what a lot of these notes are tbqh. It is flowery, with a dash of earthiness. The patchouli isn’t very prominent. A bit soapy and clean honestly, which I suspect is the orange blossom.
This is borderline sultry, but it never quite gets there. It’s mostly clean and light despite the potential broody scents listed in the description. I enjoy each of those notes, so putting them together should have been a safe play… and yet, weirdly, I like it less than I expected. It begins with an overarching freshness from the vetiver and a sort of green wood note that I suppose is the sandalwood + orange blossom. The patchouli is just barely detectable if I really hunt for it. I wouldn’t call this a “patchouli perfume” by any stretch of the imagination. It’s like if my beloved sexy-dank patchouli grew up and got a straight-edge career or something, becoming overly amenable to everyone as a way of life. It’s a little too refined. Osmanthus can have a fruitiness to it that I never get here, which is fine. I don’t get any vanilla sweetness or resiny amber either. I’m most surprised that I can’t smell Egyptian musk. I usually adore EM, which I smell as rich and deep, almost sweet in its sexy headiness… I’m wondering if it’s more influenced by the notes it’s paired with than I originally thought. It’s just disappeared completely. The longer this sits the less vetiver I smell, and it’s an improvement. Feels a tiny bit darker, but it never quite reaches a point where I fall in love. Strychnine is okay, but it doesn’t do enough to stand out in my memory. It’s safe. It’s the same feeling I got from the last one that wasn’t a house blend (Tihota). They’re perfectly nice, but don’t feel “special”. I don’t get the magic I want out of my indies. Could be some expectation and bias at work. I think this will be something I slather without remorse just to use it up. A serviceable scent but would not repurchase.
Alright. Not a house blend, but that doesn’t mean it’s not glorious. This is the feminine sister to Planchette. The Egyptian Musk and orange blossom really soar in this blend. It smells expensive and I love it.
