This one is very dark and oppressive. HEAVY.. like being smothered by black velvet that’s been soaked in ink, in a dark room filled with clouds of dragon blood incense. A bit challenging for me honestly. The beeswax is pretty much overwhelmed by the incense and ink. Ditto paper and tobacco. Incredible silage and longevity. it’s not for the faint of heart. If you want dark and melancholy, something recalling times long past, then this is for you. It really does remind me of Frankensteins study… a whiff of tobacco , a puddle of ink spilt out onto the desk blotter and a mess of papers scattered across the top
This is honestly one of my favourite perfumes. It smells exactly like Diagon Alley to me, despite being inspired by Frankenstein. It nails that old-fashioned slightly magical atmosphere perfectly. I feel like I’m in a cauldron shop.
I get an almost root-beer like dragon’s blood, a realistic and deep waxy candle, some murky inkiness on fresh (sweet smelling) paper, a faint undercurrent of tobacco leaf. Strangely, this all comes together to smell a little powdery on my skin, like baby powder, which is unfortunate. As it sits for a while though, the powder chills out a bit and you start to get more of the individual elements, making for a very dry, interesting scent.
