  1. That amber is strrrrroooong and golden upon wet application. This feelslike the most ambery-amber I’ve ever smelled. As it dries it becomes much more complex, and the other notes round out that strong amber. It’s not gourmand at all – which I really appreciate, but still has a lovely, refined wearability. It actually makes me think of my partner’s mum, who is just the coooolest lady (professor, author, illustrator, and traditional bharatanatyam dancer). Her house is full of inscence, sculptures, paintings, spices and she always smells of sandalwood. Honestly, am considering grabbing a bottle of this for her! This feels elegant but adventerous, wild but classic, refined and handsome and intrepid and timeless.

  2. This is easily one of the best ambers I have ever experienced! At first it’s a golden explosion- so warm and cuddly and fizzy- like you’ve been kissed on every inch of your body and everything feels awake. I get a sensation of cola; a perfect cola Amber. I imagine that’s the spice and vetiver mixing with the benzoin. The longer this wears, the deeper and warmer it gets, finishing the next day (on clothing) as an earthy warmth. At one point the vetiver even leaned into slightly smoky territory. Absolutely full sizing this one and treasuring it until the last drop! Don’t be scared of the pine note- it’s in perfect harmony and doesn’t misbehave. So in love with this one!

  3. Wow, this is potent (in a good way)! I think this one will be a big hit! I have tried several perfumes that cast amber in a starring role and I like them but this is something very different and original. I love perfumes like Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan and Solstice Scents Ambre Coeur… This is this is something different that I’ve never smelled before though. It features a specific blend of elements that feels unexpected and I feel like it would have been very challenging to balance all of these potent elements together in a way that is harmonious and works well but she’s done it and it’s wonderful. I can definitely perceive a beautiful laudanum and there’s a bit of quirky olfactory effect where one minute I smell all of the notes and at other times one specific note will become a little more prominent until another one steals the show… Sort of like a mood ring of perfumes with lightly shifting proportions. It’s very mysterious, beautiful and original. Cardamom can be difficult to work with because it tends to so completely take over but she’s used a wonderfully light hand so none of the notes are smashing out the other notes. It’s like symphony of laudanum, faceted by a little vetiver, dark vanilla, mysterious woods, pine and a hint of cardamom. WELL DONE! Definitely full-sizing!

  4. A wonderful, well-balanced amber-based scent. Not too dark but rich, not too cloying but with a tinge of sweetness, “mature” but doesn’t feel dated. It reminded me of YSL Caban, but I would say Bewitching Amber is more refined. Caban can feel almost imposing – Bewitching Amber is a dignified presence.

  5. One of the things this shop of olfactory delights excels at is vintage-esque blends with slightly altered updates that pleases so many in a crowd and Bewitching Amber is a perfect example. There are hallmarks on a classic perfume base but the top notes and heart of the blend are tweaked just enough that it can never be confused with the scent of handbag of an older woman. On me, I’m finding labdanum “pops and fizzes” with a caramel finish and I can clearly smell that nifty effect with Bewitching Amber as my skin warms up this oil. The pine becomes more apparent as well as I sit here typing and the dry down the sandalwood takes centre stage with the romantic vanilla and classic amber. No surprise I love this perfume and recommend it.

  6. Love at first sniff! I’m a huge amber fan, and this immediately placed among my favourites. It’s definitely a darker amber, rich and deep and resinous. Some ambers can come off very sweet, powdery, or just kind of flat, but that’s definitely not the case here. There’s a gorgeous spicy cardamom and earthy richness from the vetiver and sandalwood. On application I got some pine, which made me briefly hesitant, but it settled and mellowed as it dried. Honestly, my only problem with this one was that I can’t stop sniffing my arm.
