  1. Based on the universal glowing reviews, and being an amber head, I expected to love this but although I loved the sweetness of the labdanum, guaicwood and benzoin, there’s just not enough of it. There’s a large heaping of synthetic musk here, which I’m mostly anosmic to and which gives it that ‘almost there’ quality but personally I prefer my ambers rich deep and heavy so I prefer the other ambers in the Permanent Collection. It’s lovely though and a great gateway amber frag, especially for those who prefer lighter ambers.

  2. Of all the indie perfumes I’ve tried, Bastet Amber is my absolute favourite. It’s soft and creamy, a bit sweet and vanillic, without the intensity that some amber perfumes have. This was what I wanted when I kept trying different vanilla/amber blends. It is, quite simply, gorgeous.

I notice the scent the most strongly during the first hour or two after application, but get whiffs of it throughout the day without re-applying. I prefer softer scents without an intense throw, so this is perfect for me: the scent stays close/personal, but noticeable. I can still smell this one on my skin a full day later, and on my clothes the scent lasts even longer. I have a 5 ml of this, and when it’s getting low I’m buying the 10 ml, no question.

  3. At first, I could barely smell it, but after a few months of aging AND after wearing Sekhmet Amber I could finally smell it. Sweet, musky, ambery, with NO Royal Amber nuances. It’s like wearing indigo silk- smooth and light, with a floaty, right-on-the-edge-of-your-perception quality to it. Enigmatic! It’s one of the best of the Royal Amber line, and maybe even the PC selection in general! Just be sure to age it and smell Sekhmet Amber- that opened up my nose to BA.
