Sigil

Brand: Alkemia

Scent Description:  A recipe in an ancient 16th century grimoire that includes olibanum frankincense, lignum aloes, bdellium, styrax, black honey, and euphorbium; the essence of “Stones of Immortality” – opium thebaicum, dried citrus, and the quintessence of gold; and an alchemist’s compounding of coffee beans and ritual herbs.

  1. It’s a light, clean version of a head shop, incense perfume. I did like this one compared to the other incense perfumes I received. The black honey in the dry down is what made me like it somewhat, but it’s definitely not worth going back to buy just for that. I’m sad that I bought three sampler packs, and I’m only like 2 so far.

  2. This one is weird for me! It’s strongly herbal, woodsy, and something that reads as a bit…cool/clean? Maybe that’s the citrus and honey. Or maybe my brain decided that “ligum aloes” meant it smelled like my aloe vera gel. (That’s not what that means, self.) Turns out that olibanum frankincense is camphorous so it does smell cool/metallic for some people. Guess I am one of them! I feel like I should be able to compare it to something more specific than that, but it’s like if you rubbed aloe gel on steel and then happened to look at something green. It’s a unique scent that isn’t for me.
