  1. This review is for the 🕸2020 version of Starlight & Spidersilk🕸. According to the Nui Cobalt website, due to issues with ingredient sourcing, S&S has since been reformulated for the 2021 batch. This gives me vibes of 3 Possets perfume oils…Beatrice, Silver Vanilla and my beloved discontinued Arcturus. Starlight & Spidersilk definitely has similarities to the three previously mentioned Possets perfume oils. I really like this blend. It manages to be musky, clean and vanillic all at the same time. How to describe the vanilla in this? It’s sweet and creamy but I wouldn’t call it a gourmand or a floral vanilla note. The cotton flower is meshing with the crystalline musk and the vanilla and doing wonderful things on my skin. I initially slathered this on, as I do with pretty much every perfume oil, and I was surprised at the strength. It was a bit cloying at first and it took a little bit to settle down on me. The vanilla does indeed become more prominent as this oil wears on my skin. This is still going strong at the 9 hour mark on me. Very impressed with the longevity of S&S.

  2. This and Black Squirrel are my ultimate favorite scents from Nui Cobalt. It’s a cold, non-fruity, clothy vanilla. It starts off with a strong cotton flower note which meshes into my skin as time goes on. The vanilla gets stronger and clearer as time passes on my skin. It’s definitely one I want to let waft up to me instead of huffing as it is quite strong. I haven’t smelled anything like it.

  3. Copying my review from the sub for posterity:

Starlight & Spider Silk (Slender strands of cotton flower hung with trembling dewdrops, cold crystalline musk, and tiny black vanilla beans). Initially: VERY clean and cotton-y, light, fresh. The vanilla starts to blossom within about 10 minutes of wear, and it’s almost like a creamier version of Stekkjarsaur. It becomes a pretty, clean cotton-vanilla, sort of what I imagine BPAL Antique Lace to smell like. It’s VERY strong for the first hour or two, and I found it slightly overpowering, personally. When it calms down, it stays true to that pretty clean-vanilla, maybe with a smidgen less of the cotton note.

Additional impressions – creamy vanilla with prominent cotton/linen notes, clean-smelling. VERY strong throw, lasts all day. It was a little too strong for me, with the linen giving me a bit of a headache, but I did think the vanilla was pretty.
