Brand: Possets
Scent Description:
The torrid love affair between strong modern tea rose and darkest black pepper. Golden amber joins in to try to smooth things out but just ends up making the mix that much more hot. This is the love affair in the snow which leaves behind nothing but water and green grass when the couple get up…it’s that hot. If you are a flower hater or a rose hater, give this one a try. It’s not like any rose you ever tried before
Floral, spicy, smooth and dry.
So this has aged about a total of 6 months since I’ve had it and it’s changed somewhat. Right away on my skin it’s fresh cut roses with the stems, green leaves and the black pepper is now noticeable. After the first few minutes the greenery aspect is gone and the rose starts to amplify per usual on me. I’m convinced the amber is still making this bomb on me. It’s sad because the black pepper is putting up a good battle against the rose. It settles into a 50/50 mix of rose vs black pepper. If not for the amber, I think that I would be able to pull this off. I haven’t had much luck with Possets ambers. Ambers went rank on my skin in Hop Head and Field of Reeds too. I’m definitely gun shy of Possets ambers because of this. In general, many ambers crash and burn on my skin.
I was cautiously optimistic with this perfume oil. I tend to amp rose and this blend was no exception. Upon application on my skin I smelled a bit of “greenness” akin to the stems and leaves on the rose bush. Kind of like the green smell you get when you walk into a florist. Sadly it’s gone after about the first 5 minutes on me as the note of the tea rose steadily increases. I don’t think the golden amber in this blend agreed with my skin chemistry. Personally, I have a lot of trouble with ambers…they’re either great or they go completely haywire. As for the black pepper, I can’t smell it at all. Unfortunately this perfume oil didn’t work out for me. I’ll let it age for a few months and give it another go just to see if anything changes. My favorite (and only) rose scent from Possets is still The Magnificent Red Rose. And that’s coming from someone who’s not too fond of rose scents!
