WOW very dark and cold and earthy, I’m not the hugest fan of metallic notes in perfume but honestly I just get a twinge of copper which is more warm then the cold ozonic metallic notes I’ve smelled before. More like blood. It’s really just an uncomfortable twinge. Barely noticeable, a mere disconcerting hint of strangeness and it’s gone. This one is all cold dirt, bitter galbanum and licorice but not sweet licorice candy. The earthy licorice root itself. The almond isn’t apparent at first, but after a bit it comes through, the bitter, green variety. I find this one much more wearable then Obedient Element but equally dark and atmospheric.

  2. I agree with spooky, earthy, green, but it’s fall-green, not spring/summery. I think the licorice note is the licorice plant itself, not a candied or prepared flavoring, which makes sense because licorice is a wild shrub native to southeast Europe–Young Romantic country. Dry cool earth; green herbs, a little sweetish and a little prickley; a tiny bit metallic (the blood note?) and I suppose the round bottom note is bitter almond. This fragrance is very wearable in late summer and fall. It’s intriguing and won’t hit anyone over the head. It makes me feel like I’ve just been walking in the woods in a wool cloak, perfect for night walking, outdoor parties, and bonfires.

  3. I don’t know what a lot of the individual notes in this one are supposed to smell like, so all I can say is that this is bitter and cold upfront, with something more smooth and slightly sweet behind. The bitterness has a sort of green aspect, which makes me think it’s the galbanum. After five hours it’s mellowed out and the sweeter part dominates. It’s almost like the smell of paper but good. I really like this, would FS.

  4. This is very spooky and earthy—it feels like something 1692 would make, rather than the fruity floral I normally associate with Poesie. I get slight hints of the licorice, but it’s more of an earthy licorice than a sweet /candied
version, which is a shame, since I normally really like Poesie’s licorice note. I’m not sure what graveyard dirt smells like, but I guess that (and/or the galbanum) is what’s giving it the earthy/spooky/sharp/almost cold scent.

Verdict: 3/5. More like 2/5 for me, 4/5 for someone who is into this sort of thing I deeply appreciate the craft of this scent, and think it will be a giant hit for anyone looking for a spooky atmospheric, but unfortunately that’s just not me. Will not be upgrading to FS
